Profile

In calendar year 2000 Cody Eckert & Associates Architects was presented an opportunity to provide design services for the New Jersey Institute of Technology for the construction of a new Campus Center and Academic Building. These two buildings, each in excess of 180,000 gross square feet with a combined construction value of 83 million dollars, would become the main architectural focal point of the campus and would provide this institution needed space to move the academic environment into the next century.

Understanding the magnitude and complexity of the project and the very ambitious nature of the design and construction schedules Cody Eckert & Associates Architects formed an association with Gwathemy Siegel & Associates Architects of New York to expedite the design production process and to provide an environment for the Owner where varying design philosophies were intertwined to accommodate budgetary constraints while maintaining the ambiance of a premier educational institution. The project completed in two phases to allow for logistical constraints and the continuity of the ongoing academic processes has greatly enhanced the campus and continues to promote the New Jersey Institute of Technology as a world recognized institution. At the successful conclusion of the design process for the aforementioned Campus Center and Academic Building the Owner added two additional tasks for the restoration and renovation of Eberhardt Hall and Cullimore Hall both buildings within the existing campus complex. Work is expected to be completed on these two projects in the Spring of 2005 with the ceremonial ribbon cutting of the new Alumni Center in Eberhardt Hall.
